Human Resources Manager

About this Position:

The HR Manager at Armata Pharmaceuticals, Inc. will provide strategic and technical expertise to support our teams in the US and Australia. Responsibilities include overseeing recruitment, employee relations, talent development and retention, performance management, benefits and insurance administration, compliance, and managing relationships with external vendors. Additionally, the HR Manager will handle other HR and administrative tasks as needed.

Job description and technical requirements:

  • Serve as a strategic partner to leadership, providing insights and guidance on employee relations, talent development, and performance management.
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including sourcing strategies, interviews, offer negotiations, and onboarding. Collaborate with external search partners as necessary.
  • Oversee all aspects of people operations, including talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, benefits administration, employee training, employee relations, and legal compliance.
  • Lead HR operations, including benefits administration, insurance administration (D&O, general), compensation (cash and equity), employee handbook maintenance, HR systems management, and adherence to federal and state guidelines.
  • Develop and implement performance management processes to foster a culture of high performance and continuous development.
  • Champion the company’s culture by promoting and reinforcing core values through effective programs that enhance morale, engagement, and retention.
  • Develop and maintain metrics related to workforce planning, headcount, employee engagement, compensation, and compliance.
  • Manage relationships and contracts with external vendors, including benefits broker(s), insurance broker(s), recruiting partners, and others.
  • Oversee company health and welfare, long-term incentive, and compensation benefits plans. Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety protocols and communication.
  • Maintain employee files and documentation, manage timely status changes, and provide required reporting on headcount, benefits, and compensation.
  • Act as a key liaison with company’s external IT vendor to manage employee onboarding/offboarding, assist with company technology functions, and approve access requests.
  • Perform other HR and administrative tasks as needed to support the company’s objectives.
  • Routinely collaborate with other key company functions, specifically including payroll, finance, and business/corporate development.  
  • Provide high level summaries for presentation to Senior Management and Board.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role.
  • Strong HR Operations background.
  • Experience with benefits and LOA administration for 50+ employees.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of employee benefit plans and leave administration including EEO, FLSA, FLMA and CFRA, ADA, Worker’s Compensation. Strong grasp of state and federal employment law and compliance.
  • Payroll experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented problem solver with ability to produce timely, high quality deliverables.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Fluent/comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite
  • The ability to interact effectively and courteously with all levels of employees and management, while being solution driven and collaborative.

Physical Demands and Requirements:

  • Able for full-time work in an office environment
  • Able to use standard computer, telephone and related equipment for communication, correspondence, and recordkeeping
  • Able to occasionally provide on-call availability and responsiveness during non-business hours
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Armata is developing and advancing a broad pipeline of natural and synthetic phage candidates, including clinical candidates for Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and other pathogens. Armata is committed to advancing phage with drug development expertise that spans bench to clinic including in-house phage specific cGMP manufacturing.

Pay: $120,000.00 – $130,000.00 per year
